Weekly milk and dairy products prices monitoring — July, 28
The price range for Extra Grade milk this week was fixed at the level of 7.60-8.30 UAH/kg (including VAT). The average price for this grade of milk in Ukraine added 0.02 UAH/kg and crossed the price line of 8.05 UAH/kg. The highest price range for this milk fixed in Ukraine remains in Central region — 7.70-8.30 UAH/kg.

The average price for Higher Grade this week added 0.04 UAH/kg to 7.82 UAH/kg. The most common price range for this grade of milk is fixed at the level of 7.50-8.00 UAH/kg.
The average price for Grade I milk become higher by only 0.01 UAH — 7.53 UAH/kg. This milk grade costs about 7-8.20 UAH/kg.
The fact that world prices for dairy products in the middle of July have dropped somewhat affected the decline of milk prices growth in Ukraine. So, the GDT index of prices after a two-fold decrease has added 0.2% at the latest trade on July 18. The average price for ton of dairy products reached the level of 3.387 dollars/t. The price of butter has again showed an increase and crossed the line of 6 dollars/kg, but SMP has lost in price and costed a little more than 2 dollars.
However, we should not expect the reduction of the purchase milk prices in Ukraine, but their stabilization —, because of sliding down of its production. Moreover, the season of "weak milk production" is not so far and by that time it is necessary to have additional supply of dairy products in the stocks.
At the same time, global milk production for the five months of 2017 decreased by 0.25%. This is due to the reduction of milk production in the EU (-1.2%), Australia (-6.1%) and Argentina (-2.5%).
As for retail prices for dairy products in Ukraine, they were stable or have grown somewhat. For example, milk with fat content 2.5% remained within the established price range and cost23.47 UAH. Butter (82% of fat content) went up by 0.81 UAH and cost 185 UAH, and «Russian» cheese added 0.65 UAH and to 167.2 UAH/kg.
