Ukraine will export up to 26 million tons of grain in 2013/14 marketing year

 

Ukraine plans to export 24-26 million tons of grain in 2013/14 marketing year. Such amounts may become the biggest since independence. This was announced today by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food during the «Open Government Questions» at Verkhovna Rada.

«Exports of cereals in 2013/14 marketing year may be 24 to 26 million tons. The determining factor will be the condition of crops and overwintering of winter wheat crop for 2014,» informed Mykola Prysyazhnyuk. The Minister also added that grain export volumes on a conservative estimate will be the largest in the history of independence.

Besides, the Minister said that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and grain export companies have signed a Memorandum of grain exports for 2013/ 2014 marketing year.

«The issue of food security and stability at the domestic grain market is number one. Therefore, Ministry of Agriculture continues to cooperate with grain exporters concerning the export of corn within the Memorandum,» said the Minister.
