Ukraine may lose nearly 30% of winter crops areas due to the rainy September — Hydrometeorological center
Due to reduction of the rates of planting campaign of winter grains for the harvest-2014 caused by adverse weather conditions, nearly 30% of crops areas may have difficulties with overwintering, declared Tatiana Adamenko, Head of the department of agrometeorology of the Hydrometeorological center of Ukraine, on September 23.
According her, the rates of planting campaign twice lowered compared with the previous year, whereas in 2012 agrarians also planted winter crops later compared with the optimum timing, due to the drought.
