Ukraine exported 20.5 million tons of grain so far in the season that started on July 1, Agriculture Ministry reported Tuesday.

Wheat accounts for 6.46 million tons, including 5.56 million tons of milling wheat. Export shipments also included 11.6 million tons of corn and 2.04 million tons of barley.

Ministry of Agrarian Policy clarifies that for 22 days of April, Ukraine exported 1.05 million tons of grain including 0.17 million tons of wheat and 0.83 million tons of corn.

Ukraine’s Agriculture Ministry said on Tuesday it could lift the cap on wheat exports for the remainder of the 2012/2013 season, allowing traders to ship abroad about 500,000 tonnes of the commodity.

«We are ready to make the market free,» Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk told reporters.
