Ukraine increases ice cream and frozen food production
It was announced by Olexander Kuts, the Director of the Food Department of the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food, during the opening of the 10th International Exhibition «World of Ice-cream and Cold» & «Milk and meat industry XXI century, held on 20-22d of March in Kyiv.
The exhibitors presented 45 domestic manufacturers and 12 foreign companies from 8 countries, including Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia, a number of European countries and even companies from China. The exhibition displays samples of domestic and foreign enterprises: ice cream, meat and dairy products, frozen semi-manufactured foods, waffle products, glazes, and coatings for ice-cream, organic products, ingredients, and equipment.
«It is pleasant to note that the production of ice cream and frozen food products in Ukraine is gradually increasing. It is also important that the range of these products is expanding. High quality of Ukrainian ice-cream and frozen foods allows to satisfy the most demanding tastes of consumers both in Ukraine and in many countries around the world, »- said Olexander Kuts. It should be recalled that in 2012 the ice-cream production in Ukraine increased by 7.6% or by 7.6 thousand tons, and was 108.5 thousand tons. As for the types of these products the most produced are plombieres, milk and cream ice-cream.
The export of ice cream increased in 2012 by 12%. Cold sweets made in Ukraine are in demand in Europe (Lithuania, Germany), Asian countries (Israel, Georgia), America (Panama), Africa (Liberia), CIS (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Moldova and the Russian Federation). Meanwhile, the import of food service ice has decreased by 20%.
As regards the production of meat semi-manufactured products, it should be noted that it increased by 33% in 2012 compared to 2011 and the production of dumplings — by 25%.
