As of October 8, Ukrainian agrarians already harvested 40 mln tonnes of grains, an increase of 15% compared with the same date last year, declared Nikolai Azarov, Prime Minister of Ukraine, on October 9.

At the same time, he specified that the wheat production totaled over 22 mln tonnes, barley — 7.5 mln tonnes, rye — 665 thsd tonnes.

Besides, the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers stressed that due to the favorable weather, agrarians have to increase the rates of harvesting campaign of late crops and planting works of winter crops.

According to him, agrarians prepared the required machinery, drying equipment and storage elevators for grain harvesting in short time. It is also important to keep high rates of grain exports, which will assist to quickly free up the storage capacities.
