Ukraine almost completed harvesting maize, and increased its export rates – N.Prisyazhnyuk
Ukraine increased the rates of maize exports. Since the beginning of 2013/14 MY, and as of November 13, Ukraine already supplied 3.4 mln tonnes of the grain on foreign markets, declared Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
At the same time, he noted that completion of the maize harvesting works contributes to growing of the export rates. According to him, by the reporting date agrarians harvested 24 mln tonnes of maize throughout 81% of the planned areas.
The Head of the Ministry also said that the expected harvest volumes of maize in the current year totals nearly 30 mln tonnes. It is rather significant index, because maize is the major export oilseed in Ukraine.
N.Prisyazhnyuk also said that the Ministry continues working out new markets for domestic maize in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, as these regions are actively increasing imports of the grain.
