The state provides milk producers with new foreign target markets
The state is constantly working out the ways to expand foreign markets for dairy products. It increases not only milk production, but also opportunities for its processing. Thus, domestic dairy enterprises annually process about 5 million tons of raw milk and export more than 1 million tons of dairy products. The main importers are Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
«Domestic dairy industry is a strategic component of the Ukrainian economy that has a great social importance. Thus, it is important for us not only to increase milk production, but also to provide its high-tech processing. Today, we have more than 500 dairy enterprises that have milk and dairy products production certificates. Their annual capacity is about 5 million tons of raw milk,» said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
However, the Minister has emphasized that currently dairy industry is a high-tech one. Therefore, it is paid much attention to the modernization of existing enterprises and new ones creation. For example, last year in Kyiv region it was opened two new units that produce infant milk-based food. In particular, it was spend 260 million USD of domestic and foreign investment for their creation. Besides, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk has said that the domestic dairy industry has a high export potential. Therefore, Ukraine is constantly working out the ways to expand foreign markets for dairy products.
«Milk products are a large share in the total export of our country. Thus, dairy enterprises export annually about 1 million tons of milk. And their import is only 2% of the total milk production,» said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk. According to Minister, domestic dairy products are exported mainly to Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
