The FTA between Ukraine and Canada starts on the 1st of August
The free trade agreement between Ukraine and Canada will start working on August 1, 2017.
This was announced by Ukraine's Ambassador to Canada Andrey Shevchenko.
«On Tuesday, August 1, there will officially start free trade between Ukraine and Canada: our free trade agreement will come into force», ― said Shevchenko.
The day before, on July 31, the Ambassador will hold a thematic briefing for Ukrainian journalists.
«We will discuss the main provisions of free trade Agreement; new opportunities for Ukrainian companies; the prospects for Ukrainian-Canadian trade», — the added Andrey Shevchenko.
We will remind, the Agreement since August 1, will cancel 98% of tariffs on exports of Ukrainian goods to Canada; for Canadian goods there will be immediately cancelled 72% of tariffs, and for seven years, duty-free exports will increase to 98%. In addition, markets to public procurement will be mutually opened. Separate sections of the agreement protect electronic Commerce and intellectual property.
The agreement was signed in Kiev on July 11, 2016. The Verkhovna Rada ratified it on 14 March 2017. President Petr Poroshenko signed the law on ratification on 3 April 2017.
