Since the beginning of 2012/13 MY, Ukraine exported nearly 18 mln tonnes of grains – N.Prysyazhnyuk

 

Since the beginning of 2012/13 MY, and as of February 26, Ukraine already supplied 17.6 mln tonnes of grains on foreign markets, an increase of 4.7 mln tonnes compared with last marketing year, stated Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

In particular, to the date Ukraine exported 9 mln tonnes of maize, 6.1 mln tonnes of wheat, and 2 mln tonnes of barley.

The Head of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said that the Government is working on the possible expansion of the markets in Europe and Asia.

As a reminder, in 2012 the largest volumes of grains were delivered to the EU — 7.7 mln tonnes at the sum of 1.9 bln USD. Besides, last year Egypt (5.5 mln tonnes) and Saudi Arabia (1.9 mln tonnes) also were among the main importers of domestic grains.
