Russia processes more milk than it produces
This was reported by Mikhail Mishchenko, Director of the Russian Dairy Research Center, during his report «Russia's Influence on the world dairy market».
Mr. Mishchenko said that by the end of 2015 16 929 933,2 tons of milk were processed in the Russian Federation, while only 16 748 418,2 tons were received for processing. The leaders of processing were Krasnodar region (together with the Republic of Adygea), Moscow and the Moscow region, Altai region, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Also Mikhail Mishchenko said that this trend is observed despite the fact that the number of processing enterprises from 2014 to 2015 has declined by 6%, from 2314 enterprises to 2174.
