Milk prices in Ukraine will increase at least by 15 %

According to the State Department of Statistics, milk production in Ukraine is reduced by approximately 1,000 t annually. In 2009 during the period of 10 months, milk production reduced in 18 regions as compared to the same period in 2008. The most significant reductions in milk production are recorded in Kiev region - by 7%, Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions - by 6% and  Chernivtsi region – by 5%.
The reduction in milk production can be explained by the decrease in the number of dairy cows in Ukraine.
Large dairy industry players predict that during November and December milk prices will increase at least by 15%.
Currently, milk prices and dairy product costs are going up. Additionally, milk processors are experiencing the shortage of quality raw milk.
In the nearest future, consumers should get ready for higher prices for dairy products.
