Livestock identification is less than 33 UAH
Mass cattle identification is hold in Ukraine. Currently, the peasants have to pay for it 22 to 33 UAH depending on the type of animal. Farmers have to pay a little more — from 20 to 48 UAH. So, taking into account such a reasonable price it is possible to predict that soon all livestock in Ukraine will be registered.
Since March the livestock owners pay for the identification service according to new tariffs. They were approved by the «Agency for Animal Identification and Registration.» So now, according to the current tariffs, peasants have to pay for the initial identification of cattle 24.8 UAH, commodity pigs — 22 UAH, sheep and goats — 24 UAH, horses — 28.8 UAH (no pedigree) and 33.5 UAH (with a pedigree).
The State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service notes that currently it is not necessary to identify animals for personal use. But it is possible that the situation will change soon. «Recently it was recorded too many cases at the markets of products from animals that have not been vaccinated and veterinary researched. The experts of the State laboratory of veterinary and sanitary expertise find such cases. However, there is a risk because there are still a lot of natural markets where meat products are sold without any quality and safety certification document », Volodymyr Horzheyev said.
The animal identification at the enterprises costs slightly more. Thus, the legal entities will pay for the initial identification of cattle 42 UAH, breeding pigs — 23, UAH, sheep and goats — 20 UAH, horses — 28.80 UAH (no pedigree) and 33.50 UAH (with a pedigree). They pay for a set of tags and identification of breeding pigs without the registration blank 39.60 UAH, and 48 UAH for the same with registration certificate. After the registration the owner receives relevant documents: passports for cattle and horses, and Certificates of Registration for pigs, sheep and goats. The identification process of the livestock promotes stable epizootic situation and they owner can apply for a grant from the state.
«Peasants can receive the state financial support. For example, last year it was introduced a special payment of subsidies to individuals for the keep of young cattle. It is from 250 to 1000 UAH per head. In 2012, about 340 thousand farmers received such support for preserved 509 thousand heads of young cattle. And as of early April peasants were paid over 64 million UAH for the preservation of young cattle and nearly 54 million UAH for animals supplied to slaughter», informed the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
