In Ukraine there is a clear tendency to increase the production of cheese products
This was stated by Oleg Voloshin, Chairman of the Board of PJSC «Dubnomoloko» (TM «Como»), in the framework of the Congress of exporters of food «Ukrainian Food 2016».
«Ukrainian cheese market and the dairy industry have always been export-oriented. For example, in 2005, we see that up to 50% of the cheese produced in the country made export volumes. The same dynamics, in general, was observed both in cheese direction and in the field. If you look at today, the volume of exports decreased significantly. Every year there is a fall both in cheese production, and in export potential», — said Oleg Voloshin.
"First of all, this is due to decreasing of exports to the Russian Federation and as consequence - decrease in production volumes in the industry as a whole. Processors have not found an alternative to this market so far. And that’s why there is such a result», — the expert added.
Also, according to Oleg Voloshin, there are a number of changes in the exports of hard cheese today. In 2010, the industry saw other products, such as cheese products. Therefore, there is a distinction, from the point of view of development of natural cheese and cheese product. There is a clear trend of increase in the production of the cheese product.
«Today one of the main products is the industry of exports. If you look at the results of 2015, about 45 thousand tons was exported to other countries. If we talk about exporting of natural cheese, there is a significant reduction. During 8 months of 2016, if you look at the cheese product, it is possible that it still does not have such volumes in 2015, but since August, the volume has increased significantly. And in the current year I'm sure they will be no worse than in 2015. Because in average about 3.4 tons of cheese has been exported to date in the Russian Federation, using, of course, such countries as Belarus and Kazakhstan», — said the expert.
According to Oleg Voloshin, in Ukraine there appeared additional categories of products, such as protein-fat products that are substantially different from cheese products.
«Cheese product has limitations and it is hard enough to ship it. Protein-fat product is the product that is composed of no more than 1% of animal fat. And so it has a different code. And it's easier to be exported. And today we feed close countries with this product quite successfully», — said the expert.
