In the current marketing year grain exports will reach 24.4 million tons
Forecasts of grain exports in 2012/2013 marketing year have increased to 24.4 million tons, particularly by increasing the exporting potential of corn. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
«We have increased the forecast of grain exports until the end of the marketing year to 24.4 million tons. And for the most part it was due to the increase of corn export forecast. Its domestic farmers can supply to foreign markets 3.6 million tons more in addition to the currently exported 10.4 million tons. In general, corn export potential in the current marketing year is set at the level of 14 million tons, wheat — 6.4 million tonnes, barley — 3.3 million tons as well as about 640 thousand tons of rye and other grains »- stated Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
The head of the department also mentioned that the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy constantly monitors the balances of grain on the domestic market and the situation on the external market as well as the condition of winter crops. And according to these calculations the exports volume is corrected. At the same time the Minister informed about the exports of domestic grain as of March, 19th.
«Ukraine has already delivered more than 19 million tons of grain to foreign markets. Since the beginning of March it has already been exported 1million tons. In general, farmers have already exported 6.2 million tons of wheat, 2 million tons of barley and 10 million tons of corn, »- specified Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
