In 2015 the production of cheese will be reduced by 20-25%

In 2015 the production of butter and milk powder will increase, but the volumes of cheese production will decline by 20-25%.

First of all, changing of the priorities is related to the closure of Russian market. It forces Ukrainian producers to produce those products that are in demand in other regions.

«Europeans are not interested in our (Ukrainian) range of cheeses, so processors start focusing on the production of cheddar cheese» — responds Andrii Dykun, president of the Association of Dairy Producers.

Due to Andrii Yarmak, an economist of the Department of Technical Cooperation FAO, cheddar cheese — is one of the three stock dairy products (i.e. it is listed on stock markets). The other ones are — milk powder and butter.

It should be noted that the EU quota on imports of milk powder is 1.5 thousand ton, for butter — 1.5 thousand ton, for milk — 8 thousand ton.

Vadim Chagarovskii, chairman of the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine will tell the details of the plans and prospects of dairy production in Ukraine and the world in the framework of the VIII International Dairy Congress, which will be held on March, 3-5 in the exhibition center «KyivExpoPlaza», Kyiv, Salyutna 2-B st.
