In 2013 the number of cattle in the farm units will increase by 2.4%
In 2012 Ukraine provided cattle stock stabilization and increase by 1.8% up to 4.5 million heads. So, in 2013 the State will continue to support the appropriate programmes implementation to develop this sector. By the end of this year the cattle stock will have been increased by almost 2% or up to 4.6 million heads. In particular, it is planned that the biggest part of the growth will be in the farm units (by 2.4%).
Last year it became possible to fix positive tendency of gradual meat and dairy cattle breeding due to the livestock revival state program effective implementation. In particular, the number of cattle was increased by 1.8% or 78.1 thousand heads. On January 1, in Ukraine there were 4503.9 thousand heads of cattle in all categories of farms.

That’s why we may speak about the efficiency and effectiveness of the government meat and dairy cattle breeding support in Ukraine. This year we will also work to get a stable growth indexes. It should be also provided sufficient forage», Oleksandr Sen, the Deputy Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine said.
Thus, according to the forecasts, till January 1, 2014 it is planned to increase the cattle up to 4589.5 thousand heads or by 1.9% more against January 1, 2013. In particular, it is expected to enlarge the number of heads by 1% or up to 1520.7 thousand. However, the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine will continue meat and dairy cattle breeding stimulation. That’s why by the end of the year it is expected 2.4% cattle increase at the farm units. By January 1, 2014 there will be 3068.8 thousand heads of cattle or 70.5 thousand heads more against the previous year.
