Farmers will be shown how to create an effective cooperative
Currently the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has worked out a typical model of agricultural cooperative associations. Thus, the farmers will be able to learn how to organize cooperatives that will facilitate services obtaining, the negative impact of intermediary’s minimization and the peasants’ income improvement. This was announced today during the «Open Government Questions» at Verkhovna Rada by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
«Two years ago, on behalf of the President of Ukraine the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine started to reform agricultural policy. One of the most important components of the rural development has become a project „Native Village“. The main objective of this initiative is an increase of income and prosperity in the rural areas through the development of agricultural cooperatives.
Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a typical model of agricultural cooperative associations,» Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. The Minister has also stressed that such models will show farmers how to organize an efficient cooperative. Thus, they will understand how to simplify necessary services obtaining and minimize the negative impact of agents and to get higher incomes.
The Minister has also recalled that the Ministry of Agriculture has established 19 Regional Centres for Rural Development at the Agrarian Universities. 5.5 thousand Village Heads have attended the lectures. This year’s it is planned to teach nearly 8 thousand people more.
«Besides, it was attached to the villages almost 10 thousand students from the agricultural universities who pass their practice, monitor the situation and help the communities. They also bring recent information on the cooperative organization,» Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
