Exports of Ukrainian maize to China broke the record
According to the official statistics data, in January 2014 maize exports from Ukraine to China totaled 190.4 thsd tonnes, an increase of 75% compared with the index of November 2013, which became the record for the recent 10 years (109.1 thsd tonnes).
At the same time, in the reporting month the share of China in the general exports of Ukrainian maize rose to 8% as opposed to 3% in November 2013. Such export volumes allowed China to enter the list of TOP-5 countries-importers of Ukrainian maize in January. In the reporting period Spain (381.1 thsd tonnes, 15%), the Netherlands (244.4 thsd tonnes, 10%), Portugal (235.8 thsd tonnes, 9%) and Egypt (196.8 thsd tonnes, 8%) were the leading countries-importers of Ukrainian maize.
It should also be noted that State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine supplied the entire volume of Ukrainian maize imported to China in January 2013.
