Experience of New Zealand is valued for Ukraine at the context of supporting farmers
One of the priority direction for the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is assistance to small farmers . Thus, the exchange of experience in the field of small farming developmentbetween Ukraine and New Zealand has prospects for our country.Taras Kutovyi, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine,stressed this during the meeting with Wendy Hinton, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland and New Zealand to Ukraine.
Taras Kutovyi noted during the meeting that development of agrarianindustry needs new approaches and methods: «However, the logistics is not developed between Ukraine and New Zealand, but the sharing of experience in the field of farming and livestock breeding is very important for us».
Moreover, the Minister drew the attention on development of organic goods in Ukraine: " The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has the real prospects for development of Ukraine`s agriculture in the sphere of organic products manufacturing. «We are able to export Ukrainian products without GMO. The production has a great potential. New Zealand is a global and successful trader of organic products, the experience and support of this country will be useful for us in future».
Taras Kutovyi, during the meeting with Wendy Hinton, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland and New Zealand to Ukraine stressed that Ukraine is a significant food exporter in the world and holds the leader positions on the global market. «Ukrainian agrarian sector had got a structural changes, but we`ve managed to find new markets for ourproduction. Ukraine has become the third biggest exporter of food after the USA and EU. Our country is a world leader inexport of oil, corn, wheat, soy and poultry», — the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported.
For reference: As of 2014 the population of NewZealand amounted to 4,5 million people, moreover,the territory of Ukraine is more about three times. According to agrarian data, as of 2014, the numbers of livestock of NewZealand amounted to 3,6 million. In comparison, current year the livestock of Ukraine amounted to 4,2 million.
