Dutch Dairy Day 2017: rations for cattle, feeding efficiency and milk analysis
On September 21, the 5th Dutch Dairy Day was held on Rozvolozhia dairy farm (Haivoron village, Kyiv region). This event gathered Dutch and Ukrainian farmers, agrarians, veterinarians and farm managers.
Organizers of the event were Dutch-Ukrainian Dairy Center, Association of Dairy Producers of Ukraine and company Dykun under support of the Embassy of the Netherlands.

In reality, cows are fed five rations instead of one. These are the calculated, the loaded, the unloaded, the consumed and finally the digested ration. In practice, these rations are often all different from each other. But this is not what we want in high producing herds.

In this workshop, you will get tools and understanding how to make sure that the digested ration is as close as possible to the calculated ration. During the workshop manure scoring, ration scoring, the use of the TMR tracker and the way how to load and mix the ration for an optimal result are demonstrated.

The basis for an efficient and profitable dairy farm is the production of quality roughage. During the workshop, a field with NutriFibre (grass) and Lucerne will be visited. On the field, the special features of the grass and Lucerne will be explained as well as the results of the feed analysis will be shown. We will also demonstrate how to use satellite monitoring to improve the management of grass and Lucerne.

Management of the dairy herd is only possible when you have concrete data about animals, feed etc. In this workshop, individual milk analysis will be shown and explained. Fertility-, health-, feed-, milk- etc. data will be integrated used for management figures. The farm-management program of Uniform-Agri will be shown and explained. Monitoring of diseases by bulk milk sampling is part of this workshop.

We will show 5 cows and explain what means linear scoring and what is the independent mating advice. In the meantime, few persons will rank the 5 animals. Then the quality of the cows will be motivated and be ranked and then the other persons give their ranking.

While showing the cows the cowsignal traning with elements of stress free stockmanship will be given.
