Demand for milk powder did not become excessive in Russia
The prices for milk powder even fell in Russia in October.
Although fresh milk is getting more expensive in Russia, there is enough of it to meet the reduced demand, therefore the manufacturers are not eager to reconstitute milk powder.
At the same time a more weighty argument is that Russian traders and Belorussian producers have stored big stocks of milk powder.
In the middle of October the prices of SMP are decreased to RUB 168-178/kg in Russia.
Import of milk powder from far abroad is practically absent. Only confectioners imported it in September.
Belarusian WMP is valued at RUB 192-200/kg on Russian market. The product from Argentina is offered at the prices of above 220/kg, but demand is certainly minimal for it.
As a whole, considering stocks in Russia and Belarus, and prospective import, there are no reasons to expect rise of prices for milk powder the next weeks and even months.
