Demand and prices for Ukrainian grains on world markets are stable — Ministry of Agrarian Policy

Despite the expected record harvest in Ukraine and the world, the demand and prices for Ukrainian grains on foreign markets will remain stable, declared Vitaly Sabluk, Director of the department of economic development of the agrarian market of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

He noted that in the terms of the expected harvest of 57-58 mln tonnes of grains, Ukrainian traders plan to export over 50% of the grain volumes. V.Sabluk was convinced that the demand for Ukrainian grains will be quite stable.

The Middle East and North Africa are the traditional export markets for milling and feed grains, wheat. To date, the Government is discussing about how to raise the share of Ukraine on these markets. As for barley exports, the Gulf countries are also the target markets, except of the above mentioned regions. Forage grain group, particularly maize, is actively making its way to the Asian region, including China, South Korea, Japan, he said.

V.Sabluk also believed that despite the good harvest results of grains in the world, the prices for Ukrainian grains to be stable. The Ministry forecasts a reasonably stable price situation on the market of milling wheat and barley, said the official. Rather good quality of Ukrainian grains will contribute to the situation development.
