Belarus plans to increase milk production by one-third by 2020
In February 13 there was press conference of the Minister of Agriculture and the Food of Belarus Leonid Zayats.
According to the statement of the minister: ‘It is expected that Belarus will produce 9 mio t of milk in 2020, up 44% from the level in 2014’. The growth should occur generally at the expense of increased production per cow (to 10 000 kg per a year). It is worth mentioning, that in Belarus there was already a program according to which the production of milk should make 10 mio t in 2015.
The purpose is an increase of export potential where the diversification of sales in favor of European Union, Asia, South America instead of total Russian direction is the main objective. According to the minister, JSC Meat and Dairy Company will carry out the task, which ‘already has practices in sales of milk powder, butter, cheeses to Africa, Middle East, South East Asia’.
But hardly the practices will help in conditions of high indicatives. Now it is possible to sell only whey powder to the world market, export floor prices for which are abolished.
